Picking Your Wedding Venue

There are a number of factors to take into consideration when picking a wedding venue. It is probably one of the most stressful decisions you need to make when planning a wedding because it is usually the first seeing as this also forces you to pick a date, and it is where you will be for the wedding…kind of a big deal. So here are the 5 things to consider when searching for your perfect wedding venue!

Type
Today there are several different options for venue types. The biggest issue is deciding if you are going to have the ceremony and reception at the same location. In my experience thus far in my wedding planning, most places offer both options. You can go with a rustic themed wedding that is very popular and go with the barn look, romantic theme and go with a luxurious location, or go modern with somewhere a little more edgy.

Location
Another aspect to keep in mind is location. There are a lot of venues out in the middle of nowhere that are beautiful, but do you want your guests to have to travel to a cornfield and not feeling like they can drink and have a good time because of the trip they have back home? Another consideration is a hotel. That may not be the perfect venue for you, but at least find one nearby for you and your new spouse as well as your guests.

Amenities
It is important to also consider what all you get if choosing to book a venue you like. Most venues will offer catering and alcohol with different packages, so be sure to look through those and compare several venues. Also, some venues offer bridal suites, DJ’s, cake services, and wedding coordinators to help make the day go as smoothly as possible. So, be sure to look out for little extras that may be included to help make your decision.

Photo Ops
I love photography and am always look for amazing backgrounds, so my wedding day is going to be no different. If you can find a venue that is everything you want, be sure to check for beautiful photo options for your big day. This is important for you, but also for your guests. You know everyone loves taking photos at a wedding and amazing scenery is going to make that picture great over a white wall.

Price
It’s never fun to talk about budget, but for most brides it is important to stay in budget. One thing I think is something you can splurge on is the venue. If you find somewhere that is absolutely perfect but just a little more than you were hoping to spend, cut back on something else that is not as important to you to make it possible. To prevent going too high over budget, when searching for venues look at the price first. Then, if it looks reasonable browse the packages and photos to see if you want to go make a tour and possibly book the venue for your wedding.

The most important aspect to consider is your guests. Yes, this is your day, but without happy guests your wedding day will not be as successful! Think convenient and fun and what you would like if you were a wedding guest!

Stylish Mix Fall Wedding in Georgia

The lush greenery flowing from the quaint garden and polished, industrial chic indoor space of Venue 92 created the perfect combination for the Hoskins’ September wedding. Farren and Derrick knew they wanted a venue that captured the essence of what makes them uniquely them. The couple lives in Atlanta, but both are originally from Mississippi. While Farren had always dreamed of an outdoor wedding with nature’s beautiful touches, she admired the glam, modernity and edge of a sleek reception. And of course, Derrick agreed (What man wouldn’t be smart enough to? lol).

The couple exchanged “I Do’s” with the perfect outdoor backdrop surrounded by full floral arrangements of white hydrangeas and roses provided by Stylish Stems to top off the scene. Farren’s bridesmaids added the perfect pop of color with flowing, elegant but fun mint gowns slightly varying in style between each girl, while Derrick’s groomsmen sported cool, gray tuxedos to compliment the vibrancy of their counterparts.

About 100 guests enjoyed an easy cocktail hour underneath a covered side terrace complete with highboys dripped in soft champagne linens and centered with modest florals. Guests sipped wine and signature cocktails and tasted light hors d’oeuvres as talented Birmingham-based photographer Sam Jasper snapped the perfect shots of the newlywed’s big day.

Farren and Derrick along with their friends and family danced the night away between edgy brick columns, polished cement floors and warm, amber lighting. And for Farren, the day would not be complete without some added bling! Following the mixed-metallic theme, round tables were set with alternating silver sequins and silver pinch-wheel linens, silver chiavari chairs and plenty of candlelight. Let’s not forget the dreamy white floral centerpieces nestled in gold vases. And that southern menu so charmingly framed in gold and silver… we did mention the couple is from Mississippi, right?
Chef Dwayne Hairston of Custom Creations and his staff served the ultimate Southern feast complete with lemon & herb grilled chicken breast, four cheese baked macaroni, angus roast beef, southern-style collard greens, and sweet potato soufflé.

The cakes? A classic, three-tiered French vanilla and Italian cream wedding cake wrapped in bling ribbon and an adorable cinnamon-flavored hunting themed groom’s cake topped with deer antlers… the southern comfort meets urban flare mix shines through again!

Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins continued the night embracing under the place’s memorizing chandeliers and draped beams and received a joyous send-off as guests waved night sparklers above the smiling couple’s hand-in-hand walkout.

The years roll along so quickly when you have a child.  Very few years are as exciting as the first one.  The first birthday party can be fun and overwhelming at the same time.  They grow up before your eyes but never out of your heart.  You have to celebrate the first year.  It may not even be for your child, but it can be the best time to celebrate your little one with family and friends.

As the first birthday quickly approaches, you have to decide what kind of memories that you want for yourself and for your child. Your children will not carry fond memories of it, but it feels monumental in so many ways.  We all desire for an over-the-top celebration,  but it may not be practical.  The answer differs in every family… maybe you indulge or perhaps it is a low-key affair. But either way, your baby is one. Relish in that fact and love every moment.
